video acceleration not working in cinnamon

After longing on a notice informs me that graphic acceleration is not working.
Also when I go into system Display, I am not able to make any changes.
I am using a Ryzen 5 2600x processor and a evga video card. I installed Linux on a clean ssd as stand alone system. Any help you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated. I should state that I have no previous experience with
Linux, so please don't get too technical.
