Need a program to use in my Slackware...
by FTIO from LinuxQuestions.org on (#523W9)
Hi folks,
I'm desperately looking for some kind of program that will watch a directory I specify for any changes, preferably for new files being added, then I need the program to either send that new file to an e-mail or maybe ftp the file to some place I can download it later.
What I need this for is this...say I need to go grocery shopping or a doctor appointment and will be gone more than 15 minutes at the least. I want to be able to 'turn on' this program to watch for any new video files that get put in the directory that my network cameras have caught motion on and recorded. This way the recorded video(s) will be safe(r) on an e-mail server (like to me at one of my google e-mail addresses) or a site that will hold files that the program can maybe ftp the file(s) to for temporary safekeeping.
This way, if the culprit being a thief, for example, decides to try to 'beat the system' and simply take the computer in the hopes that the video is still on any hard drive, it won't be and I'll at least have a fighting chance to catch the anal pore because I'll at least have the pictures of him from the e-mail or site holding the file(s).
Hopefully I made sense explaining what I'm wanting and needing and someone here in the Slackware forum may know of an app that will run on Slackware 14.2 64 bit, or have some kind of solution they're using that I could also use or borrow or whatever.
