Report: Dak won't participate in virtual offseason without deal

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott won't participate in the team's virtual offseason program without a long-term contract extension, a source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Prescott is under no obligation to partake in the voluntary program. The 26-year-old also wouldn't be subject to a penalty for missing mandatory activities as long as he refrains from signing his franchise tag.

The NFL and NFLPA agreed to terms Monday on a virtual offseason program in light of the coronavirus pandemic that has washed away organized team activities and minicamps. Teams with new head coaches, such as the Cowboys, will have four weeks to work with players, while teams with returning head coaches will be allowed three weeks.

Prescott and the Cowboys have until July 15 to iron out a new deal, per franchise tag rules.

The Mississippi State product ranked second in passing last season with 4,902 yards and threw for 30 touchdowns.
