Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott has refuted a report that he hosted a party of 30 people, including Ezekiel Elliott, at his Texas home this past Friday.

"I understand and accept that there are additional responsibilities and media scrutiny that come with being an NFL quarterback, but it is very frustrating and disappointing when people provide completely inaccurate information from anonymous sources, especially now," Prescott said Tuesday in a statement to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio.

"To set the record straight, I know that we all need to do our best to socially distance and like everyone else, I am continuing to adjust to what that requires, but the truth is that I was with fewer than 10 people for a home dinner - not a party - on Friday night."

Prescott added he was "very sensitive to the challenges" of the COVID-19 pandemic and the importance of supporting first responders and medical personnel.

The event occurred just days after Texas Gov. Greg Abbott ordered citizens to restrict social interactions through April and limit gatherings to 10 people or fewer. Police were unable to verify if a party violating social distancing mandates took place at Prescott's home.

The Cowboys have spoken to both their star players about the importance of following government guidelines.

"We've certainly communicated with Dak and Zeke. I think they're certainly aware now of how sensitive these situations are and I don't think you'll be seeing that anymore," Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said Tuesday on 105.3 The Fan. "They are certainly guys we have the utmost respect for. I certainly know they understand the sensitivity of the situation we're in, it's certainly very serious and something we know they understand."

Prescott and Elliott also faced criticism two weeks ago after posting photos of their workout with former teammate Dez Bryant.
