MX 19.1 Increase text size permanently

Fresh install of MX linux 19.1 in a Thinkpad T61p with a 1900x1200 display. That resolution and my ageing close vision are a bad match. Crtl++ helps in Pale Moon but is there a way to increase text size generally and persistently across programs?

In Settings/MX Tools/Display I found "xrandr Scaling" set to 1.0 but don't know what this does and was loath to change a setting I know nothing about.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=Ndmt3vQLczA:wjaZMKGdgNw:F7zBnMy latest?i=Ndmt3vQLczA:wjaZMKGdgNw:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=Ndmt3vQLczA:wjaZMKGdgNw:gIN9vFwNdmt3vQLczA
