Starting my Linux journey with Slackware.

(Linux newbie here.) I can use distro's that are good for newbies, but I really like to know what's going on under the hood, how things work behind the GUI and stuffs. Is Slackware the best approach to really learn Linux? What are the things that I need to know before starting my Linux journey with Slackware? (Remove my post if it's not a good idea to post it.)
