A couple of questions about plasma and kde apps
by keeneadt from LinuxQuestions.org on (#52GT2)
Hello, folks. Today i installed latest plasma without PAM from ktown (btw thanks Mr. Hameleers, appreciate everything you do for community). Process of installation was easy (i use slackpkg+).
I'm not sure if this bugs related to development problems or it's my fault, anyway i've experienced a couple of issues:
1. Okular. It crushes on almost all my pdf files. Old files, new files, generated from LaTeX, generated with imagemagick and ghostscript, etc. X PDF on the other hand works without a problem. Yes, i can use xpdf, but okular brings some attractive opportunities to my workflow... :)
2. I've already found topic about xfce-notifyd daemon and a bug with plasma notification service. I've experienced that too.
3. Crushes of other apps (system settings, kde connect, gwenview, kate, dolphin (most of all)). I tried to send bug information with auto tool, but it told me my bug report is not useful and i need to use apps with debug information enabled to create useful bug reports. I haven't found such apps in ktown repo. Suspect it must be enabled when compile. Is there any way to get them in binary format? How do you guys deal with crushes?
If it matters my installation process was like
Code:*logout*
*login as root with x server turned off*
slackpkg remove kde
slackpkg update
slackpkg install ktown
slackpkg upgrade-allI haven't installed kde4 during vanilla installation process, but i did `slackpkg remove kde' just in case.
