Computer can't find Canon TS 6140 scanner

I'm a recent convert to Linux. I installed Linux Mint 19,3 Cinnamon on my Samsung laptop and it works fine. I have a Canon TS 6140 wifi printer/scanner. It prints perfectly, but Simple Scan cannot find it. Canon's web page recommended Scangearmp2 for this scanner. I installed Scangear. No improvement. Scangear also can't find a scanner. I tried various remedies suggested on the internet and the release notes of Mint, but without success. A Mint user in one of the forums found cnijfilter2-5.50-1-deb useful for a different Canon printer/scanner. I installed it. No luck. Any suggestions?
