The Detroit Lions own the third overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft, but they appear ready to trade down.
Detroit has made plans to draft at either No. 4 or No. 5 overall, a source told Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald. Those picks currently belong to the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins, respectively.
The Lions are confident they'll be able to trade down at some point before the draft or while they're on the clock, Salguero adds.
Lions general manager Bob Quinn said last week he was talking to other teams about the No. 3 pick and that he expected those conversations to intensify as the draft neared.
Giants GM Dave Gettleman has said he "would very seriously entertain" dealing the No. 4 pick, and Miami has reportedly evaluated the price to move up to third overall.
The Dolphins are also believed to have made multiple inquiries to the Cincinnati Bengals about acquiring the first overall selection as Miami explores different scenarios for its three first-rounders.
