Buccaneers not looking to move Howard after landing Gronk

Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht indicated Thursday he isn't looking to trade tight end O.J. Howard following the acquisition of Rob Gronkowski.

"We're excited about having O.J. Howard play with Rob Gronkowski," he said, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. "Why wouldn't you want to have many weapons at that position? We have an excellent tight end group right now."

Howard's name came up in trade speculation as soon as the Buccaneers replaced him atop the depth chart with Gronkowski, who came out of retirement to reunite with newly signed quarterback Tom Brady.

Additionally, a rumor surfaced that the 25-year-old Howard would welcome a change in scenery, though a source close to him denied the claim to ProFootballTalk's Mike Florio.

Howard, a former first-round pick, saw his production dip during 2019, as he finished the campaign with 459 yards and one touchdown. The Buccaneers also have Cameron Brate at tight end, giving the franchise three viable options and two potential trade candidates.
