Trent Williams denies nixing trade to Vikings

Washington Redskins left tackle Trent Williams says he did not nix a potential trade that would have sent him to the Minnesota Vikings.

"No, that's not true," Williams said, according to ESPN's John Keim and Courtney Cronin.

Yet sources told Keim and Cronin that Washington informed potential suitors on Friday that Williams didn't want to play for Minnesota.

The Redskins have been working to trade Williams as the disgruntled 31-year-old presses for a move out of Washington. But it reportedly wasn't until Friday morning - Day 2 of the NFL draft - that discussions began to accelerate when the Vikings included a second late-round draft pick in a potential deal.

Nonetheless, no trade materialized, and the Vikings selected tackle Ezra Cleveland with their second-round draft pick.
