installing bodhi linux on a old windows computer to make it useable

Hello all, Im new here so please bare with. I am trying to revive an old windows computer that was running vista. It seems all components work but it wont boot up and I cant utilize a restore point. What I would like to do is install Linux and hopefully revive this older computer, for my granddaughter. Thanks for any assistance
