is there a way to use my laptop as a keyboard for my phone?

I am looking at Bluetooth keyboards for my new smartphone. (Got dragged kicking and screaming into 4G. :( ) What I really wish I could do is, when my laptop is present, make it serve as the keyboard for my phone. Plugging in some cable and/or device between them so I can use the computer keyboard to type into the phone. Is there a way?
