Error in OPEN FILE Statement, Fortran

Hi All,
I am trying to compile a pretty old version of FORTRAN and it was worked fine but today shows error:
vbs.f:120.21:
open(lun,file=fname,status='old',form='formatted')
1
Error: FILE tag at (1) must be of type CHARACTER
Please guide me. I would appreciate it.
