Gparted flashdrive won't boot, but a Clonezilla one will

Okay, just the facts first. This is a Dell Inspiron laptop, dual boot, Windows 10 and Linux Mint 19.3 (with all the updates) and usually is used as a Linux laptop. The drive is a 500GB SSD pretty much evenly split between Windows and Linux Mint.

I want to give the Linux partition more space - as the Windows partition is less than half used and I have been processing a few videos on the Linux partition and it's running out of space. The Gparted installed in the PC won't move or resize the Linux partition (I assume because it's in use). I downloaded the G-parted ISO file (gparted-live-1.1.0-1-amd64.ISO and later tried gparted-live-1.0.0-3-i686.ISO) and the boot loader pretends there isn't a flash drive installed. If I try the Clonzilla flash drive and it works just fine. Both flash drives were created with USB Image Writer.
The Gparted flash drive has the following folders installed:
boot
EFI
live
syslinux
utils
and the following two text files:
GParted-Live-Version
GPL
