14.2/x86_64: Need help with audio
by rshepard from LinuxQuestions.org on (#52W6M)
I want to switch among audio input/output devices: turn microphone on and off and select external speakers or headphone. When I tried to use alsamixer and pressed F6 I had access to control all levels, but those settings were not saved after I exited the tool (despite trying the store command).
Looking for help on SBo this morning I found, and tried, ponymix (looks useful), pulseaudio-ctl (with options I don't understand), and apulse. After not removing pulseaudio before installing apulse, I removed both, then started apulse. It appears to do nothing. So I removed it and re-installed pulseaudio as the daemon.
I'm completely new to computer audio and video and am learning so I can create webinars-on-demand for my business. I need help getting control over selection of audio input and output devices from those who are highly experienced in Slackware audio. (BTW, the only slackdoc I found was from when 14.2 was still in beta.)
TIA,
Rich
