The New York Jets are signing veteran running back Frank Gore to a one-year contract, his agent told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Gore is returning for his 16th NFL season and will be playing for his third AFC East team in as many years.

The future Hall of Famer played for the Miami Dolphins in 2018 and the Buffalo Bills in 2019. Gore will reunite with Jets head coach Adam Gase, who previously held the same position with the Dolphins.

Gore sits third on the NFL's all-time rushing list and will turn 37 years old on May 14.

Frank Gore:
* 15 straight seasons with 500+ rushing yards (NFL record)
* 15 straight seasons with 125+ rushing attempts (NFL record)
* Needs 1,380 rushing yards to move into second on the NFL's all-time rushing list.

Frank Gore forever.

With Le'Veon Bell set to be New York's starter, Gore will likely battle for playing time with fourth-round pick La'Mical Perine and Josh Adams.

The veteran recorded career lows in rushing yards (599) and yards per carry (3.6) in 2019.

The San Francisco 49ers selected Gore in the third round of the 2005 draft. He spent the first decade of his career in San Francisco before a three-year stint with the Indianapolis Colts.
