HOW TO: Cut your bangs while stuck at home

So you decided to get bangs right before the COVID-19 lockdown. It was a throwback. A little whimsy.

But now that whimsy has turned into a face-tickling hazard, blinding you with every blink. And there are no hair salons open in sight.

Seems like a simple fix. An easy snip or two, right?

The first thing to note is that less is more when it comes to your bangs, hairdressers say.

Here's what the experts recommend:

1. Assemble the tools required. Sharp scissors (do not use kitchen scissors) and a comb.

2. Style your hair so you have it set the way you will wear it. Trim your bangs while they are dry. If you trim wet bangs, they will end up shorter than you intended.

3. Pull your hair back (tie it in a pony or clip it behind your ears).

4. Be sure to pull back any little strays that try to join your bangs.

5. Pull your bangs to centre and pinch together.

6. Keep your pinch near the top of your nose. Do not pull the strands down tight.

7. With small vertical cuts, snip the fringe. Go slow, you can always take off more if you need to.

8. Let it go!

BANG!
