Report: Chiefs to host Texans in 2020 season opener

The Kansas City Chiefs will begin their Super Bowl title defense by hosting the Houston Texans in the first game of the 2020 NFL season on Thursday, Sept. 10, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The full NFL schedule will be released Thursday night beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.

The Chiefs and Texans met in the divisional round of the 2019 playoffs, with Houston running out to a 24-0 lead. Kansas City then scored 41 unanswered points and went on to win the game 51-31.

After that, the Chiefs dispatched the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship Game before winning Super Bowl LIV over the San Francisco 49ers.

The Texans will be without one major player from January's matchup after Houston traded receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Arizona Cardinals this offseason. Hopkins led the Texans with nine receptions for 118 yards against the Chiefs.
