install problem ubuntu 18.04 dual boot
by zimbot from LinuxQuestions.org on (#53C8Y)
friends
I have a hp z620 that has a 1 TB drive
It currently boots windows 10.
I have made ~ 460 GB free space ( unallocated / raw )
I have ran a fsck upon a windows start - the file sys is clean
I have disabled in the bios secure boot // fast boot
Here is my problem - when I boot to the ubuntu Live disk and select install
It does *NOT* see my windows
I never get the "install along side" windows
Q1- what might I be missing here?
Q2-
If I go down the path of "do something diffrent"
what is a good idea?
like---
make 2 partitions
swap = 32 MG ( i have 16 Gb of ram )
and the remain is all "/" root ? ( approx 430 GB )
and then if i do install that way
Q3-
how does grub know about my 2 choices -- how does that work
I have made several dual boot systems ... i always get the install along side... but this time -- i do not.
Thanks in advance
cheers
