Fedora/Gnome: Check email in the background?

Hey guys. How can I get email notifications without keeping my email program opened at all times?

I'm used to Windows 10 which would tell me about new messages when I wake my PC up. I'd like to replicate that. Geary can do it. I just got one as I was typing this message, though I don't currently have Geary showing as open.

But I would prefer to use Thunderbird. Even when I have Thunderbird as the only email application, I only see new mail notifications after opening Thunderbird.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=7q65LhyjCzc:oylG9fFR0iY:F7zBnMy latest?i=7q65LhyjCzc:oylG9fFR0iY:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=7q65LhyjCzc:oylG9fFR0iY:gIN9vFw7q65LhyjCzc
