Ubuntu 18.04 file manager freeze
by Langjan from LinuxQuestions.org on (#53EVW)
My Ubuntu 18.04 file manager seemed to be working overtime since fresh install a short while ago. It takes a long time before "settling down" when large-ish files are opened.
When working with a large number of photos, it freezes after a while, holds the freeze for a few seconds, then seems to open up but re-freezes before finally allowing me in again. This gets worse as I continue to work with the files, but if I restart the file manager it runs well again but only for a while, then the problem resumes.
I have changed the file manager from Nautilus to Nemo, the same problem in both.
I tried this fix: https://medium.com/@gspasov2/how-to-...s-52bb75d55c70
but the system responds with unable to locate package"
I have: Linux jan-ESPRIMO-E5731 5.3.0-51-generic #44~18.04.2-Ubuntu SMP Thu Apr 23 14:27:18 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
I have 8 GB RAM and a Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5700 @ 3.00GHz * 2 processor. Graphics is Intel(R) Q45/Q43, SSD hard drive less than 50% full.
Suggestions will be welcomed.
