Any experiance switching Mouse and a between Solaris and Linux - what known problems please?
by OldBlueBear from LinuxQuestions.org on (#53HY1)
Hi, I am about to bring up Solaris on a SUN Blade 150, to parallel with a Linux box. I obviously do not want two keyboards and two mice (I use Logitech tracker ball,) on my KB shelf.
But before I start buying in kit, thought I would ask here and benefit from any experience of what problems that may have been encountered.
I have in mind to use a USB duel channel change over switch for mouse and keyboard but wonder how both Linux and Solaris 8 (my choice of OS) will react to having it's KB/M removed and then reconnected. I am asking rather than suck it and see" as my Linux box is a big system with 3TB of data, a pain to reinstall. I do not need a full KVM switch since my monitor (HP LP2475W) is multi ported, I can manually switch screens on it. This must be something that has been done before, pointer and helpful advice appreciated. And thanks in advance.
