Redskins' Latimer arrested on assault, firearm charges
Washington Redskins wide receiver Cody Latimer was arrested Saturday morning on charges including assault in the second degree, the Douglas County Sheriff announced, according to ESPN.
Latimer was also charged with menacing, illegal discharge of a firearm, prohibited use of a weapon, and reckless endangerment. He posted a $25,000 bond.
Latimer was arrested after a witness reportedly heard gunshots and an argument from inside an apartment in Douglas County, Colorado. One person apparently suffered minor, non-gunshot-related injuries.
"There's an entire backstory to this situation that constitutes one of the most highly provocative situations you can imagine," Latimer's lawyer, Harvey Steinberg, told ESPN's Adam Schefter. "Please withhold judgment until all the facts of what took place that night are known."
