Debian 9.12 installation in a UEFI laptop
by bong.mau from LinuxQuestions.org on (#53K43)
Hi
Env.
Hw pc hp 650 with UEFI bios
Sw Windows 8
Planning to dula both Debian 9.12 & Windows 8
I read debian installation instruction about dual boot on uefi machines....sincerely i still do not have a clear picture about how to proceed...
In the past i installed many linux with MBR dual boot on normal Bios...but about UEFI i need support by people with real experience ...
My Bios permits to switch to CSM mode ...
I take a backup of Widows 8 partition with "system-rescue-cd & partimage"
with windows diskmngm i take a look of the disk
is a puzzle !!
partition1 400 mb "restore partition"
partition2 260 mb "system partition EFI
partition3 disk C ntfs "windows partition"
partition4 452 mb "restore partition"
partition5 disk D ntfs where is stored the "restore to factory" file ....
i have no problem creating and resizing partitions and installing ...My doubts are about UEFI...
How to set bios to perform debian installation and dual boot ?
I do not want to have a pc no more bootable ...
thanks in advance
Maurizio
