[SOLVED] How do I uninstall grub?

I made a failed effort to install grub on an external disk that installed it on the internal disk. uninstalling the package didn't remove everything and seems to have caused a persistent problem. From packages that tell me how to remove it from Windoze disks, they tell it's the MBR, that I can use DOS's Code:fdisk /mbr to remove it. I don't have Windoze or DOS. How do I rewrite the MBR in Linux?
