[SOLVED] I did a dist-upgrade from Kubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 on my ThinkPad, now Pulseaudio no longer detects the laptop's internal sound

Hello there,
I performed a dist-upgrade yesterday on my trusty T420 going from Kubuntu 18.04 to 20.04.
Most things went well except for Pulseaudio no longer detecting my ThinkPad's internal sound card.
I tried to move ~/.config/pulse and /etc/pulse to backup locations so PA would create new configurations after stopping its daemon and service.
But even after another restart and login, I rather ended up having no sound at rather than having both my monitor's sound (connected through the laptop's docking station) or the internal sound.
Typing in Code:lspci -nn | grep -i audio gave away that the Intel sound is still detected properly and even regular old alsamixer can pick it up after those tips have been given to me from someone in a chat.
So I think something messed up during the upgrade process.
My user too is part of the group 'sound' if that helps, I really have no idea what to do otherwise since this is one really annoying issue and I know no other place to ask for help :(
Kind regards,
WaterCatapult
Edit: After some further digging, I came across this page where someone suggested just to remove the package 'timidity' which magically activated my laptop's internal sound again:
