Hello from a (potential) new Linux user.
by Matthew. from LinuxQuestions.org on (#543M5)
I have tried Windows and Mac OS/X, and now I would like to try Linux.
Why?
Why shouldn't I try it?
Simplicity, stability, security, speed on an older machine...?
I have two old macbooks which seem mechanically sound but which I am no longer able to update, and besides I no longer want to tolerate being a source of data for marketing people and others without my consent.
Right, that's the soap-box rant over with.
Once I can get Linux onto my older macbook, I am sure I will have lots of questions, so please be patient with me while I am trying to learn, and thanks in advance.
I will resist the temptation to put my first question here.
