Problem From Last Month. Concerning http and https. Again.
by kevinbenko from LinuxQuestions.org on (#543ZJ)
{I had a stroke in 2011 and I have brain damage}
Continuing problem....
I had "Spotify" installed, but could not update it for some reason, probably with my problem with http:// versus https://
Now, I always had a problem when updating/checking on the Vivaldi browser, as my sources.d listing always changed from https:// to http://. It was mildly irritating and I dealt with it.
I always had a problem with "Spotify", as I could not update/check on it. Soooooo.... I entirely removed "Spotify" and tried to reinstall it by following the instruction on "https://www.spotify.com/us/download/linux/"
But it ALWAYS failed to install. I followed the suggestions on other's advice, but they all failed.
So, yet again, I need some help from the LinuxQuestions community.
*: For the life of me, I can no longer use http:// on the Debian package servers, only https:// works for me.
*: How can I get back to http:// on the Debian package servers?????
It seems to me that it could be the solution to my ongoing problems.
{PS: This morning I moved my servers address to ftp [blahblahblah] made a mess of the configuration and restored them to the previous settings}
Can anyone tell me how to get back to the http:// syntax rather than https://?
Thank you for your time. The solution is probably easy, but I am sort of stupid/clueless as of 2011.
Have a good day!
