Chilling video captures devastating crash on QEW in Burlington

The OPP are investigating a crash on the QEW in Burlington in which a large dump truck suddenly blew a tire and veered into oncoming traffic.

The collision caused a major closure and diesel spill and police released video of the incident Tuesday (June 2).

Police said on May 26, the dump truck was eastbound on the Toronto-bound QEW near North Shore Boulevard and "blew a tire" and crashed through the guardrail and into westbound traffic. The large truck also spilled diesel and police said clean-up will take a while so "expect delays in the area."

"Your day can go from good to really bad, really fast," OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said.

Several drivers were on the road when the crash happened.

"It looked so scary," said Moira Bess on Instagram, claiming to be westbound on the QEW when the incident occurred. "My heart is racing."
