malware or prank? from weirdness and files called "secretstorage" to some real worry
by Jennylee-3 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#54D40)
I recently posted about some python questions, well, I may have found the problem. python3 no decimal point. I had seen a python38, earlier, too. No typo.
At first, I was delighted to find an easter egg. But, I was tired and didn't consider it.
I don't think it's a joke.
under /dev the file system of 2.7 and 3.8 are totally different. python3 has a file called debian_config. The other two have sitecustomize.py
The python3 under /lib has a single folder "dist-packages" that has a whole list of files from a Lutris game package I had installed recently. I was thinking the package builder was having a go at me, but, I am concerned now.
Should I be worried? I am concerned about possibility of this being malware. Or have I just been pranked?
Search on this site and on Bing show no results for python38 or python3(no decimal), just 3.8.x ...
Also, I thought I had posted this earlier. If this is a double (I couldn't find the first posted. Either a review delay or I screwed up the posting, I am guessing), please remove. TY
