Report: Cook to hold out without 'reasonable extension'

Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook plans to hold out and skip all team-related activities unless he secures a new deal, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

"Without a reasonable extension, he will not be showing up for camp or beyond," a source told Schefter.

The 24-year-old wants to match or exceed the $13 million per season that Houston Texans running back David Johnson earns. A contract in that annual range would make Cook one of the top five earners at the position.

Cook and the Vikings haven't held contract discussions since last week, according to Schefter. Cook reportedly presented his proposals and, to this point, the team has been unwilling to meet his demands.

The 2019 Pro Bowler is entering the final year of his rookie contract and is scheduled to make $1.3 million in base salary for the campaign.

Cook is coming off the best season in his three years in the pros, running for 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns. He ranked inside the top 10 in both categories despite missing two games in 2019. The Vikings owned the league's sixth-ranked running game.
