Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky knows Nick Foles' arrival will create competition for him under center. However, Trubisky sees the situation as a source of motivation.

"It was kind of interesting to me," Trubisky said of the Foles trade Friday, according to Adam Hoge of NBC Sports. "That's the business that we're in. I think I was pissed off in a good way. I've been motivated ever since."

"I still feel like this is my team," Trubisky added.

Chicago traded a compensatory fourth-round pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars for Foles this offseason. The former Super Bowl MVP battled an early-season shoulder injury in his lone campaign with the Jaguars and eventually lost his starting job to Gardner Minshew.

Trubisky struggled last season, completing 63.2% of his pass attempts for just 3,138 yards and 17 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. Chicago went on to miss the postseason one year after finishing 12-4.

"We need to get back to the playoffs," Trubisky said. "And we need to have a different mentality than we did last year. We let a lot of details slip and we didn't play the way we should have been playing. We lost a lot of games we should have won."

The Bears declined the fifth-year option on Trubisky's rookie contract in May, a decision that didn't surprise the former second overall pick.

"The way I played last year didn't merit me getting that option," Trubisky said, according to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic.
