The Cleveland Browns and star edge defender Myles Garrett have engaged in contract extension talks, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Garrett, the No. 1 overall pick in 2017, is expected to become one of the highest-paid pass-rushers in the NFL when he signs his next contract. Through 37 career games, he has 30.5 sacks and six forced fumbles.

Garrett still has two years left on his rookie contract.

The 24-year-old had 10 sacks in as many games last year before his involvement in a brawl with the Pittsburgh Steelers yielded him a suspension for the remainder of the season.

Garrett was the first of two straight No. 1 overall selections by the Browns. The franchise picked quarterback Baker Mayfield to begin the 2018 draft.
