No more "suspend" or "hibernate" in latest Plasma5 (KDE-5_20.06) with Slackware-current
by sairum from LinuxQuestions.org on (#54VCN)
After upgrading to Alien Bob's latest Plasma5 (KDE-5_20.06) on top of slackware-current I lost the ability to suspend or hibernate the "server" using KDE menus. Not that I use this function a lot because the "server" is just my home desktop which "serves" some stuff (mostly databases that I develop elsewhere but bring home to do minor tweaks). However, it's handy when you simply want to suspend the machine to leave for a couple of hours or so.
When I say that I lost the ability to suspend, I mean that the KDE menu "Leave -> Sleep" does not work anymore. The same is true for "Leave -> Hibernate". Command line executables "pm-suspend" and "pm-hibernate" work as root. Because now Ctrl-Alt-FX does not work as before I cannot see any warnings as why the commands are not responding. Inspecting X.org.0.log, /var/log/messages, etc didn't reveal anything worth exploring! May be this is related with the new elogind. I've checked if I belonged to the 'power' group, and I do... Any ideas?
