Halton police are looking for a male suspect after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted in the presence of her infant child at a Burlington park on Friday.

At 10 a.m., the woman was walking along the trail system at Duncaster Park, in the area of Upper Middle Road and Duncaster Drive, when a man approached her from behind while her attention was diverted toward her child.

Police allege the suspect sexually assaulted the victim and then fled the area.

He is described as white, 30-35 years old, five-foot-nine, with short brown hair and a medium build.

The suspect wore a blue medical mask, a plain black baseball cap, a black T-shirt, dark shorts and running shoes.

He is believed to have a scar on the back of his right hand.

Police are warning the public to be particularly vigilant" while walking in secluded areas and to report any suspicious incidents immediately, Det. Joe Barr of the force's child abuse and sexual assault unit said in a release.

Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding this or similar incidents to contact Barr at 905-465-8969 or Det. Const. Andrea Moss at 905-465-8971.

Anyone with dashcam or surveillance video recording for June 26 between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. in the area of Upper Middle Road/Duncaster Drive near Duncaster Park is also asked to contact investigators.
