Hamilton police investigate assault at Corktown Park

Hamilton police have cordoned off Corktown Park as they investigate an assault which left one person in hospital early Friday morning.

Const. Jerome Stewart says the assault occurred between two people whose gender he could not disclose. He says one suspect has been arrested.

Police are releasing few details about the incident, such as the extent of the victim's injuries and the time the assault took place.

Stewart says police - who have been at the park for more than two hours - will remain on scene to process the incident and gather evidence. He said there is no threat to public safety.
