Whether I select from Panel, Desktop, or Ctrl-Alt-t I get:
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Usage: file [-bcEhikLlNnprsvzZ0] [--apple] [--extension] [--mime-encoding] [--mime-type]
[-e testname] [-F separator] [-f namefile] [-m magicfiles] file ...
file -C [-m magicfiles]
file [--help]
garyh@HPLap:~$
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I always enter "exit" to close the terminal window.
I can "clear" with no problem and my work isn't affected but I must have some garbage stuffed where it doesn't belong.
