What they sold for: A look at Hamilton/Burlington real estate in June

The most expensive home sold in the Hamilton area in June was located in Ancaster, and went for $2.75 million. The Realtors Association of Hamilton-Burlington says its members' top three sales within the RAHB boundaries last month ranged between $2.58 million and $2.75 million. The other two houses were located in Burlington.

RAHB president Kathy Della-Nebbia says the Ancaster home was more than likely" a very large, newer build. With home prices in Burlington consistently outpacing the rest of the area, it's no surprise two homes there were in the top three. It's a very in-demand community," Della-Nebbia added. Burlington in June 2020 saw an average price of $872,298, with the average detached price just over $1 million."

On the area's lower end were two homes in Hamilton and one in Dunnville, ranging from $142,000 to just over $160,000. Della-Nebbia says the homes in Hamilton were more than likely apartment-style properties, which could be (co-op) ownership and are typically lower priced compared to towns or detached. The third that took place in Dunnville was most likely a recreational property, such as a modular home or trailer. In the summer we see an increase in recreational sales, and due to COVID-19 this market has most likely been delayed."
