slackware64-current: After upgrade on July8, close button for terminal, firefox disappeared. Mouse pointer has become X cannot shutdown

Hello
After july 8th update, these issues
1. Firefox---minimize, maximize, close buttons not seen
2. Mouse pointer turned into X from arrow
3. Shutdown will not turn off the PC...on monitor, "-" will be blinking
4. Full monitor is black now, earlier white
5. XFCE mouse, blue background disappeared
6. Later updates installed. Upgraded today also. Up to date according to changelog
7. BUT PROBLEMS NOT RESOLVED
