Awful fonts and icons on fresh install on raspberry pi 4

Hi, I purchased a Raspberry Pi 4 a month ago and distro hopped for a little while. I had installed slarpi on it a within the first couple of days before trying a few other OSes. I decided to come back to slarpi and so today I did a fresh install.

Upon starting XFCE4 i noticed that the fonts and icons were not displaying as they had when I had initially installed slarpi 4-5 weeks ago they were very rough and heavily pixelated. I had backed-up my /boot/config.txt from my raspberrypi OS installation and copied it over but there was absolutely no change.

I'm not sure where to start so if I can supply any information to help please just ask. My config.txt is below but as I said it doesn't seem to be the problem, there is also a link to some screenshots at the bottom.
