Gnome doesn't want to change my brightness anymore (Intel)
by vladimir1986 from LinuxQuestions.org on (#563V4)
Hey there. I am here to ask for a bit of a guidance with an odd bug on Gnome
I am using Gentoo with Gnome (OpenRC), Intel integrated graphics, and no login manager (I use startx).
So far after installing it was working fine: I think this problem started after migrating to 3.36.4, but I am not 100% sure.
Suddenly my brightness multimedia keys stopped working: I can see the slider bar under the volume mixer, the gnome notification daemon draws the bar with brightness levels and I can increase/decrease the reported brightness bar levels with the proper function keys in my laptop, but the brightness stays completely static.
The odd bit and what differs with similar problems I had in the past is that the graphics drivers seems perfectly fine, I can change the brightness via xbacklight no probs and other DE like Xfce4 work perfectly fine. It seems it is a Gnome only problem!
btw, I also tried to start Gnome under X11 instead of Wayland, but no joy. I also tried to assign shortcuts keys to the command xbrightness, but that won't work either for some reason: The only way to change brightness is still to pop in a terminal and do it via commands.
Any idea about how to solve this? Thanks in advance!
