OpenSUSE Monitor Resolution in VirtualBox

I decided to load up OpenSUSE in VirtualBox because I haven't looked at it for a while.
After I installed it, it defaulted to 800x600 resolution. When I tried to change the resolution, I was unable to. Whatever setting I picked would appear briefly, then the screen would hop back to 800x600.
However, when I changed the VB "display" setting for the OpenSUSE VM from the default to VBoxSVGA, I was able to successfully change the resolution to something more reasonable.
