where right bluray disc

Tried to use K3B to burn a 8.1 GiB iso [scientific-7.8-Everything-DVD-x86_64.iso] to disc using my Optiarc DVD RW AD-7590S drive.
First tried extra large regular DVD disc, and told to insert blu-ray. Tried regular single layer -- no good; then double layer -- still told to insert a blu-ray disc.
Tried different burn app [BurnAware Free] and this one specified use BD-R/RE DL; so tried Verbatim BD /RE DL [no where can I find a BD-R/RE DL] as this seemed to include the basics [double layer and reuseable] but still get message to insert blu-ray medium even with that disc in place.
Any one with idea how to go forward with this? Why doesn't the BD /RE DL work?
