Removing unwanted installation files

While I am "Playing" with the installation, I have over the past few weeks attempted several things.
Some of my installations worked, but some didn't. The process of commends chains steps and at some point it fails. But, up to that point - it managed to add more and more files into my storage device.
Those are incomplete app installations, is there anyway that I can remove those files. One of the signs to this - at boot time, I get a green circle - I think it is a TAME leftover...
Hope someone can give me a hint, I am close to considering starting the entire Ubuntu installation once again from scratch, unless there is another option
