The comic Verdandi is referring to is called Oh My Goddess! which is a Japanese comic in which the main characters are loosely based on the Norns. Verdandi's name was translated to Belldandy in the English translations of the comic, which Kat has read, and realised who she was.Basically, this was a long walk for a reference to a comic I enjoyed many years ago.
