antiX reinstall messed up Grub entries
by coderlen from LinuxQuestions.org on (#56TSB)
I have a multi-boot laptop, which has antiX and SparkyLinux installed. Both were booting just fine, but the antiX installation could not get on the Internet. The SparkyLinux partition works fine and connects to the Internet, so I don't think it's a hardware problem.
As I said, antiX was working just fine, except that I could not get it to connect to the Internet. I have tried all sorts of configurations to fix the network problem, searching for others' solutions, and reconfiguring as others have done. Even attaching an Ethernet cable for a wired Internet connection does not work. I even tried Ceni, but that was unsuccessful.
I decided to reinstall antiX, from a live USB, in an attempt to fix it. But the reinstall messed up the antiX partition, and now antiX does not boot, unless I use the live USB.
I went into Boot-Repair-Disk to try to fix the antiX boot problem. Unsuccessful. However, I did get the grub info into pastebin:
http://paste.ubuntu.com/p/fwBjDzmb9c/
I am attaching photos of the screenshots to show you what comes up on my laptop. the last SparkyLinux selection works, and I can get on the Internet with that selection. Debian and the first SparkyLinux are non-functional.
Screen 1 (Blue screen) - shows the boot menu. As stated, two of the selections are non-functional. The second SparkyLinux works fine and gets on the Internet. But when I choose antiX, it tries to boot, and I get the next screen. (See Screen 2)
Screen 2 - What I get when I choose the antiX selection
Screen 3 - Without doing a thing, after about 10 seconds it automatically goes into this screen
Screen 4 - After Screen 3, when I plug in the antiX live boot USB, I get this
Thank you.
