Hamilton police are looking for an armed and dangerous" Airbnb renter who fired a shotgun into the ceiling after being asked to leave a west-end building Aug. 9.

Police said in a release three men rented a room on Aberdeen Avenue last week to make a rap video, spurring complaints about loud and intimidating behaviour.

When the property manager asked the men to leave, one man lifted his shirt to show off a handgun while another fired two rounds of buckshot from a shotgun into the ceiling. No one was hurt and the men fled in a grey Toyota SUV.

Police said Friday investigators have identified and issued an arrest warrant for the alleged shooter.

Peel Region resident Christopher Mitchell, 18, faces weapons-related charges including reckless discharge of a firearm.

Police say they consider Mitchell armed and dangerous" and are urging the public not to approach him. If you see the shooting suspect, police say you should call 911.

The investigation continues into the city's 29th shooting of the year.

Police are asking anyone with information to call Det. Const. Alex Buck at 905-546-3817 or send tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
