what keeps me within my distro family is the package manager

We can debate endlessly what makes distros and distro families different, but on a practical level, isn't one of the best answers that they use different package managers? You can't jump to another distro family unless you want to make the effort to learn different package management software, because you can't just take your old package manager to the new distro--it's too different. Am I right?

...and so every time I vaguely feel like hopping distros or at least looking (which is a weak and fairly rare yearning for me), I eventually remember that the reason I stay within my distro family (if I even look at other distros within it) is, ultimately, the package manager and the available software. I may get restless and annoyed at some minor problem, but I have always been completely happy with the package manager I have and the software the repositories have access to. (No, I'm not discussing which one, because that's really not the point.)

I was just ruminating about this because I'm in one of these rare moods of wanting to look. It never goes very far, and never will, unless I get enough motivation to overcome my satisfaction with the package manager I have.latest?d=yIl2AUoC8zA latest?i=NiQb2xETcnE:C1e-_XnRDdg:F7zBnMy latest?i=NiQb2xETcnE:C1e-_XnRDdg:V_sGLiP latest?d=qj6IDK7rITs latest?i=NiQb2xETcnE:C1e-_XnRDdg:gIN9vFwNiQb2xETcnE
