Segmentation faults after Aug 14 2020 update
by Jefferson from LinuxQuestions.org on (#56ZGS)
Hi!
Several apps are segfaulting after Fri Aug 14 18:56:08 UTC 2020 update.
For example:
- right clicking on panel (xfce4-panel) crashes and instantly relaunches;
- pidgin launches OK, but after going Online it segfaults;
- Leafpad (lightweight editor) crashes randomly (you don't have to do anything for it to crash);
- Adobe Reader 9 crashes instantly upon trying to open any *.pdf file through RMB context menu;
- Leafpad crashes instantly upon trying to open any *.txt file through RMB context menu;
Also I can't log out in a normal way (clicking on a widget on panel, which launches xfce4-session-logout), because widget instantly crashes when i click it. So to shut down Xorg i have to use CTRL+SHIFT+BackSpace. When i log out this way i see in console following messages:
Code:(xfsettingsd:1274): libxfce4ui-WARNING **: 23:15:43.496: ICE I/O Error
(xfsettingsd:1274): libxfce4ui-WARNING **: 23:15:43.496: Disconnected from session manager.
(xfsettingsd:1273): libxfce4ui-WARNING **: 23:15:43.497: ICE I/O Error
(xfsettingsd:1273): libxfce4ui-WARNING **: 23:15:43.497: Disconnected from session manager.
xinit: connection to X server lostAlso, got this in tty0 terminal after RMBing the xfce panel a few times and then killing xorg:
Code:xfce4-panel-Message: 23:34:00.360: Plugin actions-2 has been automatically restarted after crash.
xfce4-session-Message: 23:34:04.027: Got disconnected from D-Bus. Unless this happened during session shutdown, this is probably a bad thing.
(Thunar:3192): thunar-WARNING **: 23:34:04.029: Name "org.xfce.FileManager" lost on the message dbus.
(Thunar:3192): thunar-WARNING **: 23:34:04.029: Name "org.freedesktop.FileManager1" lost on the message dbus.
Any ideas?
PS: Slackware-current, 32bit.
